| Molag Bal's shrine in Yansirramus |
Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Talk to the statue of Molag Bal in Yansirramus.
- Travel to Kora-Dur.
- Slay the Daedroth Menta Na.
- Return to Yansirramus for your reward.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Finding the shrine[edit]
Molag Bal's shrine can be found in the ruins of Yansirramus, two islands west of Tel Aruhn. Note that you may be able to access the shrine safely, but exploring any of the side chambers will likely get you attacked.
Menta Na needs to be banished from Tamriel.
The God is displeased[edit]
Molag Bal complains about one of his servants, a lazy Daedroth named Menta Na who has retreated into the caves of Kora-Dur instead of creating the usual havoc and terror. Molag Bal gives you a key and asks you to kill Menta Na to obtain his favor and a reward.
Travel to Kora-Dur[edit]
Kora-Dur can be found east of the stronghold of Kogoruhn, far north of the Red Mountain Crater. It is located high up on a hillside, and is rather easy to miss. The door is heavily locked but fortunately you have a key.
Slay Menta Na[edit]
You'll find Menta Na in the innermost chamber. Among the loot you'll find here is a Daedric Staff. Return to the shrine to receive your reward, the Mace of Molag Bal.
Notes[edit]
- Menta Na appears only when the quest is active.
Bugs[edit]
- You may find that after you slay Menta Na and return to the statue of Molag Bal in Yansirramus, the statue will not activate to complete the quest, because you did not receive a journal entry for Menta Na's death. This can be fixed by setting quest stage 20, then re-activating the statue. ?
- Menta Na is the only creature in the game from which you can acquire Daedra Skin. The only other places to find it are in random loot or from vendors.
- This bug is fixed by the Morrowind Patch Project. As of patch level 1.6.4, Daedra Skin can be dropped by clannfears, daedroths, hungers, ogrims, and ogrim titans.

10 | While in a Shrine to Molag Bal, the Daedric Prince spoke to me at the altar. He was angered, and I was afraid. His anger, however, was not directed at me, but rather toward one of his minions. Menta Na, a Daedroth Monarch, has grown lazy, and no longer does Molag Bal's bidding. If I kill Menta Na in his dungeon Kora-Dur, returning his soul to the Outer Realms where Molag Bal can punish him, then Molag Bal will reward me well.
20 | I've killed the Daedroth Menta Na.
30 | I've returned to the Shrine of Molag Bal, having killed the Daedroth Monarch. Molag Bal was true to his word, and has rewarded me with his mace, the Mace of Molag Bal. |

Appearance

He most commonly takes the form of a bull and reptile hybrid, with horns, fangs and claws. He is also often shown with a long tail snaking, wielding a mace in one hand. As with all daedric princes, he is no specific gender, but will often appear as a male to his followers.

~~~~~~~~~~
The most well-known of his shrines is found underneath the abandoned house in Markarth, though if Dawnguard is installed then there will be one in Castle Volkihar. This is because he is responsible for the creation of vampires, meaning that they worship him.
However, the shrine found in Markarth is unusually small for a daedric prince, consisting of a stone basin with the head of Molag-Bal atop a stone floor where spikes can emerge to trap victims. A rusty mace is held in the basin, upon pleasing Molag-Bal he will bestow you with his mace in its glory and power. As well as people worshipping him at the shrine, people would often be sacrificed to him, using the metal spikes to trap people.
Plane of Oblivion
As mentioned above, his realm is called Coldharbour and is almost and exact replica of Nirn. However, places like the Imperial Palace appear to be desecrated and ravished. The player can explore Coldharbour in the Elder Scrolls Online as it is the starting point of the story, and all characters. When someone is enslaved by Molag-Bal they become a Soul Shriven, and are forced to work for him.
Molag Amur is the the southern parts of the Ashlands, both areas are extremely similar with an arid landscapes. However, Molag Amur is distinguished by frequent lava pools and rivers on the surface. The land is made up mostly by volcanic rocks, covered in ash and cinder.
It is also very large, ranging from East of Balmora to the eastern coast. It is shaped similar to a triangle truncated point where the dwemer ruin of Arkngthand is located. It has many mountains due to its location, and when combined with the lava lakes it is very dangerous.
Daedra are common inhabitants, this includes scamps and a large variety of atronachs. Common creatures however are cliff racers, rats and kwama foragers. This is due to the land being very plain, with little places for plants to grow due to ash and rock.
Vampires
~~~~~~~~~~
Molag-Bal is the creator of vampires, and they worship him as such. They were created when Molag-Bal violated a priestess, and she made the first ever vampire. A pure blooded vampire is one who was created through a ritual very similar to the fist vampire, those women which survive are named ‘daughters of Coldharbour.’ Examples of this are Valerica and her daughter Serana.
The location of vampires also affects them, Vvardenfall vampires are easily distinguishable whereas vampires of Cyrodil are only noticeable when they are not blood-starved, the only explanation being that this was a gift from Clavicus Vile for their worship to him and Molag-Bal.
